🐾💙 It's been a busy week in Life Skills! Our LHS Life Skills students rolled up their sleeves and volunteered to help the APL get ready for their Upscale Collectible Sale — an important fundraiser for homeless dogs and cats! 🐶🐱
They cleaned and labeled crates, swept floors, carried tables, and unloaded trucks — putting in tons of hard work and heart. 💪✨

🌎💚 Our Lanphier Life Skills students got hands-on for Earth Day! They picked up trash all around our school campus — and even beyond — filling FOUR 5-gallon buckets! 🚮✨

Thanks to a generous grant from the Springfield Public Schools Foundation that Mrs. Landon wrote, her class along with Mrs. Hawkins, and the Lanphier Life Skills students took an exciting trip to the Illinois State Museum right here in Springfield!
Students explored the rich history of Illinois, discovered fascinating fossils, learned about native wildlife, and participated in hands-on exhibits that brought science and social studies to life! From mastodons to prairie life, the museum offered an unforgettable learning experience. 🦴🌾🖐️

¡Qué día tan divertido! Spanish 3 & 4 students and Spanish Club members spent the day immersed in culture and language! They kicked things off at Soulard Market, practicing their bartering skills in an open-air setting,Then headed to La Vallesana where they ordered authentic Mexican food en español, Students wrapped up their trip with a South American-themed scavenger hunt at the St. Louis Zoo! This was a fun, hands-on way to explore language and culture right in their own backyard!

🐾🦅 The Lanphier Life Skills crew had a wildly fun day at Scovill Zoo! Ms. Hawkins and Ms. Landon’s classes enjoyed an unforgettable trip filled with animal adventures, from feeding guinea pigs to spotting a ringtail lemur with baby twins!
🚂🎠 Our students loved the train and carousel rides, and it was extra special to see the bald eagles they’ve been learning about in science class. Yesterday our students had a chance through a grant from Make it in Illinois, to visit Simplex, Inc in Springfield, visit and experience hands on activities at LLCC , and listen to guest speaker, Drew "The MFG" Crowe. Mr. Crowe is a leader in the manufacturing renaissance and encouraged students to get involved.

The life skills students went to California Kitchen on 9th St for lunch. The manager was very patient with everyone's orders. Students practiced socializing and picking items to eat. They enjoyed their lunch out!
