February is Black History Month! In celebration, today we are honoring George Washington Carver. George Washington Carver was a scientist, educator, and inventor who transformed American agriculture through his research and innovation. Born into slavery, he overcame significant obstacles to become a leading agricultural scientist. Carver promoted crop rotation to improve soil health and developed hundreds of products made from peanuts, sweet potatoes, and other crops, helping farmers increase their productivity and sustainability. Beyond his scientific achievements, he was a dedicated teacher who believed education was the key to opportunity and progress. George Washington Carver became a powerful symbol of perseverance, creativity, and using knowledge to improve lives and communities.
Please Rise for the Pledge of Allegiance: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
And now it’s time for today’s welcoming ritual. Please take some time to discuss your response with your class: Today is National Random Acts of Kindness Day! Think of one random act of kindness that you can do today for either a staff member or another student before the school day ends. Share your ideas with your class. Let's see how much kindness we can spread today!
Have a great day, Lions!
