It’s grand! We get to visit other high schools!  We get to learn and have fun as a team!  If you have any questions, see Mr. Dulski in room 3-002, if not see you TODAY!

-This school year we have an exciting opportunity that is being brought to LHS by SIU Medicine - Lunchtime Yoga for both students and staff! Sessions will occur during BOTH A & B Lunch on the following dates: September 19th & September 26th! The September 25th lunchtime Yoga date had to be canceled. There are 20 slots available on each date during each lunch shift, so make sure you gather some friends and sign up ASAP. You find the sign-up link on your Global Canvas announcements. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity and resource!

-Senior Portrait Retake Day is tomorrow, Wednesday, September 18th.  Students who missed the summer event or who wish to have their portrait retaken may sign-up for an appointment by using this link that is posted on your Global Canvas announcements. Your senior portrait is used for your yearbook photo.  We do not accept outside submissions of senior photos.  Your school picture (taken at the same time) is used on your intranet folder and your student ID.  Even if you are not planning on purchasing a senior portrait package, please sign up so you are included in your senior yearbook and so we can create your student ID.   Having your portrait taken is free!  Information on ordering photo packages will be provided with your proofs when they are delivered. If you are requesting a retake, we request that you bring your original proof packet back with you. Questions can be directed to Mr. Fisher.

-This year in order to attend extracurricular and school/district events you will have to meet grade, attendance, behavior, and tardy criteria. Here is the criteria: you must have 8 or less tardies for the current quarter, you must have 5 or less absences for the current quarter, you CANNOT have ANY suspensions in the current quarter, and you must be passing 5 out of 7 of your classes at the time of the event.

-September 15th kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month; this event spans through October 16th. As we recognize this month, we will be sharing facts about Hispanic Heritage as well as recognizing important people that have impacted Hispanic history. Did you know that the time span of this month is significant because many Central American countries celebrate their independence days within these dates? September 15th is independence day for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Mexico’s Independence day was yesterday, September 16th. Chile’s Independence day is tomorrow, September 18th and Belize’s independence day is September 21st.

-Now for a moment of silence.

-Please Rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

And now it’s time for today’s welcoming ritual. Please take a moment to discuss your response with your class: Your teacher will show you a brief YouTube video about Hispanic Heritage Month. Watch the video and then respond to the following question: What is one thing that stands out  to you when watching this video.

Have A Great Day Lions!
