LHS Daily Announcements

-"If you need to sign up for Behind the Wheel, please go see Ms. Kauffman in her new room- 2-066. Fall driving times are filling up fast."

-Are you interested in building community amongst the high schools and developing your leadership skills? Do you want to contribute to being a voice for students? Then the Superintendent’s Student Roundtable may be for you! The Roundtable is open to all high school students in District 186. Come to our first monthly meeting TODAY from 3-4pm in the PD Room of the Administrative Center, 3063 Fiat Ave. to learn more!

-It’s time to donate blood and save lives! National Honor Society is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, September 25th. We have 45 blood donor slots to fill. If students or staff would like to give blood on September 25th, visit Mrs. Corcoran in the library to sign up for a time slot. You must be at least 16 years old to give blood. Donors receive their choice of a $20 gift card to places like Walmart, Amazon, Starbucks, and more.

-This school year we have an exciting opportunity that is being brought to LHS by SIU Medicine - Lunchtime Yoga for both students and staff! Sessions will occur during BOTH A & B Lunch on the following dates: September 19th, 25th, & 26th! There are 20 slots available on each date during each lunch shift, so make sure you gather some friends and sign up ASAP. You find the sign-up link on your Global Canvas announcements. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity and resource!

-This school year, there is a new district-wide cell phone policy that must be followed by all students and enforced by all staff members. When students enter the building, all electronic devices must be powered off and put away so they are not visible (for example: In a Chromebook bag, small purse, in your locker, etc.). The policy applies even in the hallways/bathrooms/between classes, etc. The ONLY place where your electronic devices can be on and used is during lunch in the Atrium/Cafeteria/Courtyard area. It must be powered back off and put up before the bell rings to dismiss you from lunch. This policy is now in full effect here at LHS.

-Senior Portrait Retake Day is on Wednesday, September 18th.  Students who missed the summer event or who wish to have their portrait retaken may sign-up for an appointment by using this link that is posted on your Global Canvas announcements. Your senior portrait is used for your yearbook photo.  We do not accept outside submissions of senior photos.  Your school picture (taken at the same time) is used on your intranet folder and your student ID.  Even if you are not planning on purchasing a senior portrait package, please sign up so you are included in your senior yearbook and so we can create your student ID.   Having your portrait taken is free!  Information on ordering photo packages will be provided with your proofs when they are delivered. If you are requesting a retake, we request that you bring your original proof packet back with you. Questions can be directed to Mr. Fisher.

-Now for a moment of silence.

-Please Rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

And now it’s time for today’s welcoming ritual: Your teacher is displaying an image on the front board. Take a minute to look at the image and respond to the following question: If you could "erase away" one of the shown erasers here at school, which would you choose?

Have A Great Day Lions!
