-New school year, new school you! Student Picture Day will be on Tuesday, August 27th during assigned English classes. Student portraits are used for the yearbook and your student ID, so please bring your biggest smile and best hair day! Portraits will be a headshot, from the mid-chest upwards, so please dress accordingly. Order forms will be distributed during the first week of school for optional package purchases (prices range from $17 to $60) and can be found online at mylifetouch.com (event code EVTMDFCVR). Lifetouch will only accept cash, check, or money order on picture day, however online orders can be placed using a credit/debit card, Venmo, or PayPal.
-This school year, there is a new district-wide cell phone policy that must be followed by all students and enforced by all staff members. When students enter the building, all electronic devices must be powered off and put away so they are not visible (for example: In a Chromebook bag, small purse, in your locker, etc.). The policy applies even in the hallways/bathrooms/between classes, etc. The ONLY place where your electronic devices can be on and used is during lunch in the Atrium/Cafeteria/Courtyard area. It must be powered back off and put up before the bell rings to dismiss you from lunch. This policy applies to phones, earbuds/headphones, and smart watches. You will have more clarification during your 4th period class on this today.
-This year in order to attend extracurricular and school/district events you will have to meet a grade, attendance, and tardy goal. You may not receive more than eight tardies within a quarter, once you hit eight tardies in a quarter, you are then no longer eligible to attend these school events (this includes any sporting events, homecoming dance, field trips, etc.). You must be passing 5 out of 7 classes when eligibility for the event is pulled. We are still working on the criteria regarding attendance and once we have a set goal for this, we will communicate that with all students. Please stay tuned for a universal lesson regarding this criteria within the first few weeks of school.
-Now for a moment of silence.
-Please Rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
And now it’s time for today’s welcoming ritual. Please take some time to discuss your response with your class: Today we are going to have a round of "Would You Rather!" Take your pick! Would you rather: have all of your classes with your best friend, get to leave school 2 hours early on Fridays, get to go out to eat or order in for lunch every day?
Have a Great Day & a Great School Year Lions!
