Packets will be available this Friday, March 15th, do not wait until the last minute to get these filled out! If you have any questions please reach out to Coach Haley for poms, or Coach Kelsey for cheer."
-Don’t forget that we are recognizing student efforts in making positive behavioral choices and for being on time to all classes and to school. Each Monday, any student that was referral free and tardy free for the previous week will be entered into the drawing and FOUR student names will be drawn. The winners will be announced and they will come down to the atrium to choose a gift card. We want to ensure that we are making Lanphier a positive, safe, and productive place for all students to learn and thrive so we want to make sure we recognize the efforts of students that are contributing to that goal! Each Monday, every student starts with a clean slate, so if you hit a bump the week before, you will get another chance at the start of each week. We would like to give a shout to Coach Blake Turner and the LHS Football Boosters for providing us with these rewards and encouraging Lanphier students to make safe and positive choices while here at LHS and in the local Springfield community.
-Seniors, Jostens is here for announcement delivery today. Your complete remaining balance is due in order to receive your order.
-"It is another day of Women's History Month! Each day of the month, we are honoring a woman who is making history as a part of the Lanphier Staff and supplying a quote from an inspirational woman!
Today we honor Mrs. Caton of the Student Support Services Department! Mrs Caton has been with LHS for almost 17 years all together!! She enjoys getting to know students and showing them that they are not confined by the expectations of others. They can rise above and reach beyond! She also enjoys the friendships that she has made over the years. She feels lucky that she gets to work with some of her favorite people! A woman that inspires Mrs. Caton is Dolly Parton because of her commitment to children's literacy through her Imagination Library. If you see Mrs. Caton today, thank her for being a devoted member of the LHS staff, someone with a big heart and a kind word for everybody!
Today's Women's History Quote is:
"If you see someone without a smile today, give 'em yours!"-Dolly Parton
-Last Friday was SEL, Social and Emotional Learning Day! We reviewed what SEL is and the 5 core skills of SEL, which are: self-awareness, social-awareness, self management, responsible decision making, and relationship skills. Each day this week, we will focus on one of the 5 core SEL skills. Today’s focus is Self-Management! As a reminder, self-management means that you have the ability to control your own thoughts and emotions. Students that can manage themselves successfully seem able to achieve their academic and personal goals as well. It also means that you have the ability to stick with an activity from start to finish. Some examples of having self management are controlling your impulses, managing stress, having self-motivation and self-discipline, goal setting, and organizational skills. Join us for today’s activity at either end of the Atrium during your lunch shift to “de-stress” and enjoy some relaxing and “meditative” coloring.
-Now for a moment of silence.
-Please Rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
-And now it’s time for today’s welcoming ritual, please take a moment to discuss your response with your class: Everyone has stress from time to time. Some types of stress are positive, such as when you start a new job, go on a vacation, or learn a new hobby. When you feel this type of stress, you typically are anxious because you want things to go well or you want to perform well. Some types of stress are more negative, such as relationship problems, injuries, or losing a job. Stress is inevitable in our lives, but how we cope with stress is what is most important. When you are stressed, what is one of your favorite, healthy ways to cope? If you don’t have any strategies that you feel are healthy to cope with stress, try checking out some resources at our District 186 Virtual Calming Room. The link has been shared with you in your Global Canvas announcements.
Have a Great Day Lions!
