-Don’t forget that we are recognizing student efforts in making positive behavioral choices and for being on time to all classes and to school. Each Monday, any student that was referral free and tardy free for the previous week will be entered into the drawing and FOUR student names will be drawn. The winners will be announced and they will come down to the atrium to choose a gift card. We want to ensure that we are making Lanphier a positive, safe, and productive place for all students to learn and thrive so we want to make sure we recognize the efforts of students that are contributing to that goal! Each Monday, every student starts with a clean slate, so if you hit a bump the week before, you will get another chance at the start of each week. We would like to give a shout to Coach Blake Turner and the LHS Football Boosters for providing us with these rewards and encouraging Lanphier students to make safe and positive choices while here at LHS and in the local Springfield community.

-Seniors, Jostens will be here for announcement delivery on March 14th. Your complete remaining balance is due by that date in order to receive your order.

-There will be an NHS meeting on March 13th, Wednesday, during the beginning of 2nd hour.  Students should check in with their 2nd hour teacher before coming to the atrium.

-"It is another day of Women's History Month! Each day of the month, we are honoring a woman who is making history as a part of the Lanphier Staff and supplying a quote from an inspirational woman!

Today we honor Ms. Cookson of the Student Services Support and English Departments! Ms. Cookson has been with LHS for 7 years, and has truly become a major part of its heart and soul. She goes above and beyond for her students and colleagues. What she enjoys most about LHS is that there is always someone to make you smile or laugh and everyone, students and staff, are amazing! She doesn't realize that for most of us, she is usually the one making us smile and laugh. A woman that inspires Ms. Cookson is Marcia K. Henry who, as an author, tutor, teacher, diagnostician, and professor has inspired many in the dyslexia world. If you see Ms. Cookson today, thank her for being a joyful life force at Lanphier!

Today's Women's History Quote is:

“Never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance in the world to pursue your dreams.”

-Hillary Rodham Clinton

-Friday was SEL, Social and Emotional Learning Day! We reviewed what SEL is and the 5 core skills to SEL, which are: self-awareness, social-awareness, self management, responsible decision making, and relationship skills. Today kicks off our week of SEL events! Each day will focus on one of the 5 core SEL skills. Today’s focus is Social Awareness! As a reminder, social awareness is having the ability to understand the feelings of other people. It also involves understanding how people’s feelings can influence social situations and also involves taking the perspectives of others. It is important for a person to be able to understand another person’s thoughts or feelings and why they might feel that way. Today, join us during your lunch shift and out to our RESPECT doodle poster! If you add to the poster, you can choose a fidget of your choice! Make sure you check out the event poster for this week that can be found in your global Canvas announcements!

-Now for a moment of silence.

-Please Rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

-And now it’s time for today’s welcoming ritual, please take a moment to discuss your response with your class:

How do you define RESPECT in your own words? You can just also provide an example of what it looks like to be respectful.
