-Don’t forget that we are recognizing student efforts in making positive behavioral choices and for being on time to all classes and to school. Each Monday, any student that was referral free and tardy free for the previous week will be entered into the drawing and FOUR student names will be drawn. The winners will be announced and they will come down to the atrium to choose a $25 gift card. We want to ensure that we are making Lanphier a positive, safe, and productive place for all students to learn and thrive so we want to make sure we recognize the efforts of students that are contributing to that goal! Each Monday, every student starts with a clean slate, so if you hit a bump the week before, you will get another chance at the start of each week. We would like to give a shout to Coach Blake Turner and the LHS Football Boosters for providing us with these rewards and encouraging Lanphier students to make safe and positive choices while here at LHS and in the local Springfield community.

-Seniors, Jostens will be here for announcement delivery on March 14th. Your complete remaining balance is due by that date in order to receive your order.

-Please see your Global Canvas announcements for a new scholarship opportunity, the Annette Walker Memorial Scholarship.

-"It is another day of Women's History Month! Each day of the month, we are honoring a woman who is making history as a part of the Lanphier Staff and supplying a quote from an inspirational woman!

Today is a special day because we are honoring the entire social work team because today marks the end of School Social Workers Week! Our social work team consists of Ms. Koerwitz, Ms. Anderson, Ms. Deal, Autumn, and Ms. Storm! LHS is very lucky to have each of these women on staff!  A  couple of women that are inspirational to our social work team are Comedian Carol Burnett and Novelist Eudora Welty. If you see any of our social work team today, please tell them thank you for always looking out for the safety and well being of our school!

Today's Women's History Quote is:

"We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”

-Maya Angelou

-Today is SEL Day! What is SEL you ask? It stands for Social and Emotional Learning! Social and emotional learning helps you identify and understand the ways that you may think and feel. It is  a way to develop skills that will lead to better mental health, and overall better success in life. It teaches us how to increase positive energy and to subtract negative energy. SEL can help you develop the skills to live your best life. There are five core skills to SEL: self-awareness, social-awareness, self management, responsible decision making, and relationship skills. Each period today we will start off the class with a brief announcement featuring one of each of the core SEL skills. We will then have activities throughout the week next week during lunch and/or before or after school to support the core SEL features. Also, be sure to pay attention to the information shared today as well as any information next week, there will be some prizes given out based upon knowledge that you have learned regarding SEL! Stay tuned for more information on activities next week!

-Now for a moment of silence.

-Please Rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

-And now it’s time for today’s welcoming ritual, please take a moment to discuss your response with your class: Today is International Women's Day! It's a day to celebrate the social, economic, and political achievements of women around the world! Who is a historical woman, a present-day woman, or any woman in your life that you admire? Why do you admire her?
