-Don’t forget that we are recognizing student efforts in making positive behavioral choices and for being on time to all classes and to school. Each Monday, any student that was referral free and tardy free for the previous week will be entered into the drawing and FOUR student names will be drawn. The winners will be announced and they will come down to the atrium to choose a $25 gift card. We want to ensure that we are making Lanphier a positive, safe, and productive place for all students to learn and thrive so we want to make sure we recognize the efforts of students that are contributing to that goal! Each Monday, every student starts with a clean slate, so if you hit a bump the week before, you will get another chance at the start of each week. We would like to give a shout to Coach Blake Turner and the LHS Football Boosters for providing us with these rewards and encouraging Lanphier students to make safe and positive choices while here at LHS and in the local Springfield community.

-Girls Track and Field practice has started!  Meet Coach Napier and Coach Jackson on the 2nd floor above the atrium. Practices will be Monday-Friday from 3:45-5:30pm.. Come with a winning attitude and mindset to make a difference in our program. Any questions see Coach Daniel or Coach Napier during the day!

-Faculty, staff, and student groups are invited to decorate classrooms or doors by February 20th, aligning with the theme "In Service to Whom." Use materials judiciously, considering paint protection. Judges from the African American Literature class, Student Government Association, and BHM committee will consider creativity, relevance, craftsmanship, visual impact, and message. The top three entries will receive gift baskets and a shout-out on the LHS Facebook page. Let's honor Black history together!

-To celebrate Black History Month we will also have a spirit week starting today and running through next Wednesday. Here are the Spirit Day themes:

-TODAY: Rock Your Crown - Wear an updo, afro, headwrap, or wear brown in solidarity with Black Americans.

-Feb. 21: Old School v. New School - Students in grades 9 & 10 will dress in ‘90s attire, while 11th and 12th graders will dress in early 2000s/y2k clothing. Teachers can pick which “school" decade they want to represent.

All outfits must follow District 186 dress code guidelines. Please, do not wear hats, masks, or anything that would be considered out of dress code.

-Here is our quote of the day in honor of black history month: "Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it." -  Michael Jordan

-As a reminder, we are on a 2:17pm bell schedule today and all students and classes will attend a Black History Program following 7th hour with their 7th hour class. When the bell rings to dismiss 7th hour, please do not allow students to leave the classroom, students and teachers will wait for an announcement with instructions of when to dismiss to the Lober Nika gymnasium.

-Now for a moment of silence.

-Please Rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

And now it’s time for today’s welcoming ritual: Saturday was National Random Acts of Kindness Day and we want to continue celebrating throughout this week! At this time, please take a few minutes to email a teacher that you have now or had in the past and let him or her know how thankful you are for! Share who you are choosing to email with your class and why!

Have a great day lions!
