"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

-And now it’s time for today’s welcoming ritual. Please take a minute to discuss your response with your class: Our theme today in celebration of Homecoming week is Barbie & Ken day! The Barbie doll was originally introduced in 1959 at the New York Toy Fair as a creation by the Mattel Toy Company. Ken made his debut in 1961. According to Bazaar Fashion, 3 Barbie dolls are sold every second. This means approximately 1 Billion dolls have been sold since 1959! Barbie is a toy that many children (and adults!) have collected and played with over the years! What was one “toy” that is memorable to you from your younger childhood days?
