We would like to take a moment to thank our Community Partner, Westside Christian Church, for providing lunch for our faculty and staff members last week in honor or Black History Month! We were treated to pizza, salad and drinks! It was a wonderful pick me up to the day, for sure. We appreciate your generosity and support always!

Congratulations to Lanphier's Coach Doug Collins for being honored by the Illinois State Treasurer's Office during Black History month. The award is for Outstanding Achievement in Sportsmanship - Doug Collins, Head Girls Basketball Coach, Lanphier High School. We are so proud to call DC one of our own! What side? #Northside

In addition to the after school tutoring available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We have the Athletes' Study Table each Wednesday from 2:30-3:30. This is available for in-season athletes and any Lanphier student that has a desire to succeed academically. Athletes' Study Table Expectations: Go straight to the cafeteria after school. Do not leave the building and return. Stop at your locker first and bring everything you need. Sign in when you arrive and sign out before you leave. This time is for homework, studying, and getting help. It is not a social time. All school rules apply. Athletes will depart for the start of practice or arrange for pickup at 3:30 PM.

Yesterday, our French and Choir students traveled to St. Louis for a magical performance of The Phantom of the Opera at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis! From the iconic music to the breathtaking chandelier drop, it was an unforgettable day of art, culture, and music. Our students had a wonderful time representing Lanphier and seeing this classic story come to life on the big stage!

On Friday, Our AP Physics students went to the BOS Center for the Shadow Event with Hanson Engineering and were transformed into civil engineers! They participated in various activities that simulated some of the various subfields of civil engineering, such as mapping Springfield’s new Metro system, building bridges, and controlling drones. We thank Hanson Engineering for this opportunity and support for our students’ futures in engineering!

Congratulations to 4x200meter relay team comprised of Keyon Horton Bryson Tate Jeremiah Williams Trident Barnes. They earned 5th place at the recent Indoor Meet held at Illinois College.

Congratulations to the following Lanphier Wrestlers: Phoenix Criss who placed 2nd at last weekends sectional and has advanced to the state tournament for the 2nd consecutive year! We can't wait until State! We also want to say how proud we are of Alliyah Powell, Tahj Morenz & Anthony Steskal also competed at the sectional level.

Thanks to one of our community sponsors, our Life Skills class had a fun filled day of learning with Valentine's lunch and treats! They had a pizza party, played some fun games, and everyone got a Valentine bag!

There will be a mandatory softball meeting on Thursday, February 19th for any girl interested in playing softball this year, in room 2-006 directly after school to learn about tryout information. Tryouts start Monday, February 23rd. Please plan to attend on Thursday and if you can't make it, please talk to Mr. Weir.

Ms. Miller’s freshman biology students had an engaging and hands-on experience exploring evolution today. Through interactive investigative stations, students examined multiple lines of evidence that support evolutionary theory. The station-based format encouraged meaningful collaboration and critical thinking, and students demonstrated a strong understanding of the lesson objectives by the end of class.

The Lanphier Lady Lions took a jaunt over to Champaign to watch the Women's Fighting Illini Basketball game! They had an amazing experience and watched a fast paced NCAA game.

Mr. Metzke took a group of students to Macomb today to visit Western Illinois University! Students toured campus, visited classroom buildings, and dorms to see what life is like as a Leatherneck.

Girls Track & Field Practice has started. Any girls interested practice is Monday thru Friday from 3:30pm-5:15pm. See Coach Roddrick Napier or Coach Tony Daniel.
